弗吉尼亚大学 简称UVa，又译维吉尼亚大学，是全美乃至世界一流的公立研究型大学，为最初的8所“公立常春藤”成员之一，25所“新常春藤”成员之一。UVa本科和研究生录取率较低，竞争非常激烈；同时，UVa在奖学金发放数量排名中位于公立机构第一，全部机构第二，可见其对生源质量的重视程度。

地理位置

弗吉尼亚大学 由托马斯·杰斐逊建立，坐落于美国弗吉尼亚州的夏律第镇（杰斐逊的故居），其中三位美国总统（杰斐逊，麦迪逊和门罗）为其最初校董会成员。离DC约两小时车程，环境清幽，很适宜居住和学习。

创办历史

弗吉尼亚大学 创建于1819年，创建人是美国《独立宣言》的起草人之一，美国第3任总统托马斯·杰斐逊，他有感于当时美国各大学的宗教势力对教育的影响，就想创立一所独立于宗教之外，具有独立和创新精神的大学，于是和自己的挚友、后来成为美国第四任总统的麦迪逊（James Madison）先生联手合作创立了这所大学。

  • 根据2016-2017年泰晤士高等教育（Times Higher Education）排名世界第120位。

课程设置

学校一共有9个学院， 提供100多种不同的专业。在学术上偏重人文，以历史、英语、古典学、哲学、政治等学科为重。在文理之外，其有全美最顶尖的法学院、研究生和本科商学院、建筑学院、护理学院和医学院。
