IGETC全称为The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum,直译中文即跨部门通识教育转学课程,是加州大学系统及加州州立大学系统等四年制大学,与加州社区大学系统之间的通识教育课程转移协议,将通识教育课程分门别类,学生们根据要求完成IGETC,在转入加州大学或其他四年制大学后,可以带上已经修读的学分课程,不需要重复修读。
举例说明,如有意申请UC Berkeley的Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences专业。那么UCB的工程学院就有明确表示:The College of Engineering does not recognize the IGETC and strongly discourages students from following this option。UCB的工程学院不承认 IGETC,并强烈建议学生不要跟随IGETC完成课程。
此外,若想申请UC Davis的Electrical Engineering,学校提到:Completing IGETC is not required, nor does it improve the likelihood you will be admitted。完成IGETC不是必须的,也不会增加你被录取的机会。由此可见,明确目标学校与专业,并根据目标学校与专业去做规划,是至关重要的。
