ED (Early Decision),指的是有约束力的提前录取;而EA (Early Action),是指不具有约束力的提前录取。他们之间的区别在于,ED要求申请者只能申请一所学校,如果获得录取的话,那么学生一定要去这所学校就读,并且需要撤回已经申请好的RD学校。而EA在申请院校的数量上没有限制,如果获得EA录取,学生不一定要去这所学校,而且还可以继续进行RD的申请。
REA (Restrictive Early Action),即限制性的早行动。REA规定在提前申请阶段,学生只能申请一所学校,但被录取之后可自由选择是否加入该校。选择了REA,就意味着不可以申请ED,且不可以申请私立学校的EA。有REA的大学并不多,如普林斯顿、哈佛、耶鲁等,选择REA申请就意味着要放弃其他大学的ED,还要放弃芝加哥大学、MIT等私立大学的EA。
