美国高中 9到12年级 上课到底学些什么？

在美高都会学到什么？这个让中国家庭经历“小别离”的地方是否值得当初的决定？结合以上问题，小编邀请到已经毕业的美高党们来说说他们的亲身经历，毕竟只有他们才最有发言权啦！

美国高中

Ashley（美高毕业，美本在读）

首先我要说的是并不是所有美国高中的学生都会学习同样的课程，不同的州、学区以及不同的学校标准都会有所差异。但总体来说，美高需要学习的内容有英语、社会学/艺术/人文、科学、数学以及世界语几个大类。下面我就介绍一下我在高中时期所学的核心课程。

Freshman Year（9年级）

  • 英语：阅读素材是莎士比亚，学习语法以及散文写作。
  • 美国历史：9年级的历史主要是美国初期阶段，学习原住民土地问题，18世纪的战争以及当时美国的政治政策。
  • 代数：数学会根据个人能力水平选报不同课程。学校标准9年级要上代数1，不过众所周知中国学生在数学方便比较擅长，我当时是直接上了代数2。
  • 自然科学：学习宇宙、物理定理，已经平衡方程式的一些基本规则。
  • 新生体育课：学习基础健康知识以及其他各种体育运动。

Sophomore Year（10年级）

  • 英语：阅读教材依旧是古典文学，学习更多的语法以及散文写作。
  • 历史：学习美国19世纪历史和现代史，了解美国政府的一些基本常识：三权分立，以及他们各自的职责等。
  • 微积分预科：顾名思义，为下一年学习微积分做准备，需要有很好的数学基础。
  • 科学研究设计：实验室类的入门课程，学了一个学期的化学和一个学期的生物。了解如何写实验报告、做实验等等。
  • 趣味体育：这是个蛮有意思的课程，学习基础户外运动知识，课程活动也很多，例如钓鱼、攀岩、射击等。

Junior Year（11年级）

这一年我参加了学校的IB（International Baccalaureate）课程项目，也就是大学预科，好处就是学习这类课程的学分最多可以算作一年的大学学分，不过需要注意的是并不是每一所美国高中都会提供这类课程。

  • IB课程项目中级：阅读国际文学，写分析论文，并且还需要准备15分钟的分析演讲。
  • IB课程中级欧洲历史：学习了古埃及以及古罗马历史，还有法国大革命！
  • 微积分1：基础微积分课程。
  • IB化学：一门比较坑的课程。各类公式、平衡方程、反应类型、总之所有化学要学的你都要学！
  • 体育：只上了一个学期，比较轻松可以根据个人喜好选择不同运动。

Senior Year（12年级）

  • IB英语高级：继续阅读国际文学，写分析论文。大量的阅读，写作，讨论！
  • IB欧洲历史高级：学习标志性欧洲历史事件，这期间还需要大量阅读历史类书籍，比如《西线无战事》、《欧洲咖啡馆》等等，课堂中通常也是以这些历史事件展开讨论。
  • 微积分2：加深程度的微积分。
  • IB环境科学：由于上一年化学坑了，这次我转到了环境科学。学习污染、环境法律政策以及环境系统等内容，还去当地河边进行实地考察实验，是蛮有趣的学科。

总体来说，高中4年我每一年都会学习8门课程，除了上述必修学科，我期间还学习其他选修课，例如戏剧1-4，IB戏剧，吉他、美术以及德语1-3等。虽然大家都说国内高中很难，压力大，但其实读美国高中也并不轻松。尤其我们不光要关注学习，日常生活、与人交际，如何快速适应新环境对我来说都是一个挑战。不过美国高中课程设置的好处就是，相对于国内高中的填鸭式教学，美高的课程设定更加人性化，也更注重培养每一个人的特长与兴趣，这样才能达到全面发展的要求。

社区大学转大学的必备步骤

Step 1：提前准备

你需要提前列出你想转入学校和专业名单，然后开始研究学校的转学政策和转学所需课程。在这个过程中，你需要留意的是：有些四年制的大学会承认所有你在社区大学所修的学分，而有些大学并不会全部录用。

Step 2：咨询你的转学顾问

上期小编曾提及过，转学顾问是学校给你提供的第一资源。和他们多聊聊天，你会获得更多转学及学术上的经验和小技巧。他们会给予你很好的转学建议，确保你能顺利的转学。

Step 3：上完社区大学里的课程

如果你不知道自己将要选什么专业，或者前途一片迷茫。小编的建议是，上完能够获得副学士的所有课程。因为副学士的课程一般都涵盖了四年制大学的一般基础课程，比如说英语，实验课，和基础数学。你也可以通过General Transfer（一般的转学项目）进入你想要的四年制大学，然后再次考虑想要进入的专业。另外，你可以选择考托或福雅思来为你的转学加分，或者你也可以认真的上好社区大学里English 101和102的课程。在有些大学里，他们只要你达到这两堂课求的GPA，和拿到了副学士学位。你就无需再参加语言考试了。

Step 4：想一想你的兴趣爱好，和擅长领域

如果你还未确定你想学习的专业，不妨试试学习你喜欢的课程，说不定你会从中找到自己喜欢的专业。

Step 5：提升你的GPA

好的GPA让你能够顺利的转学，如果你有高的GPA，有些四年制大学会提供你直接转学的机会。

Step 6：和你选定的四年制大学的顾问联系

发邮件和对方学校的顾问联系，他们会告诉你在转学时，你所需要考虑的因素。

Step 7：申请学校

当你有了足够的学分，你就可以开启你的升学之路了。需要注意的是每间学校都有他们的入学要求和截至日期。你需要做的事，填他们所提供的申请表格，和你的高中加社区大学的成绩单。对于特殊专业，比如说美术之类的，你还需要提供Portfoilio，和推荐信来为你的申请加分。有需要的话，可以在申请前让你的学术顾问帮你过目一下，确保你的材料完整性。

关于申请需要注意的事项

  • 填表时信息确保信息的真实性和及时性。
  • 在官网上反复确认所要提交的材料，及对于不同申请人的学术，经济上的要求。
  • 如何让你能在众多学生中脱颖而出，你的Personal Statement是申请中必不可少的一部分。如何写好Personal Statement就直接决定了你的申请成功率。你需要注意的是，Personal Statement不要太过冗长，在写的过程中，学术目标要明确，如果和个人经历联系在一起写会让你的Perosnal Statement更加出彩。
  • 对于美术之类需要特别提交材料的转学生，需要在官网上找到所需材料的信息，再来准备作品。

日前，就读于爱荷华大学（University of Iowa）的近百名中国学生，被卷入了一起大规模的学术不诚信事件。他们因涉嫌花钱找人代课、代考等而面临违反 Honor Code 被大学开除的处分，部分人甚至面临被遣返回国的严重处境。爱荷华大学的发言人Tom Moore没有正面回应近百名学生的说法是否属实，但也没有澄清或否认这些学生作弊的行为。

事情发生之后，网络上有评论这么写到“中国人就是不一样，连作弊都可以大规模，这么弱就别出国留学了，省得出去丢脸。”难道国内很多不了解美国大学生活的人，对于留学生的误解，还不够多吗？当然，许多学生的所作所为，的确是在给所有中国留学生群体抹黑。

2009年开始，中国赴美的留学生数量赶超了印度，中国成为美国留学生最大的来源国，9年内翻了近5倍。然而，中国留学生作弊、学术不诚实的例子却越来越多，甚至有越演越烈的趋势。回顾2015年， 15名中国留学生因在美国作弊遭起诉，15名留学生涉嫌合谋利用替考的手段欺骗SAT、GRE等美国入学考试系统，并利用虚假成绩申请美高等院校。这些学生有的被递解出境，有的甚至被判处5年缓刑。（延伸阅读：考试作弊被美国大学开除 我该怎么办？）

英文不好、在美国大学听不懂课，该怎么办？

美国大学申请 春季入学 你需要知道的5件事

美国大学申请 春季入学 截止在即，不论你是出于什么样的考虑申请春季入学（秋季申请失败、中考高考失利或是时间安排上的问题等等），都一定要了解下面这5件事！申请春季入学的流程和申请秋季大体上是一致的。我们仍然需要填写网申表并提交一系列的申请材料，例如语言成绩，推荐信，成绩单等等。但在春季申请与秋季申请的不同会体现在很多细节上。

1. 春季申请截止日期大多是每年的9-12月

由于我们申请的是第二年春季入学，最早的学校可能1月初就会开学，所以招生工作通常会在前一年的秋季学期（9-12月）全部完成（有的学校可能更早）。虽然也有很多学校的秋季申请也截止于每年的年底，但春季申请的截止日期要普遍早于秋季申请。由于春季申请的名额很有限，所以在尽早地提交申请材料非常有必要。大家一定要严格遵守Deadline！

2. 即使学校没有官方声明，但仍然可能提供春季入学机会

并非所有学校或是专业都明确地在网站上列出春季申请的要求，但这并不意味着该学校不接收春季入学的学生。随着秋季的申请者越来越多，而学校的录取名额有限，会有一部分秋季的申请者会被安排到春季学期入学，或被建议春季再申请，这在录取中很常见。所以，当学校的官方声明模棱两可的情况下，我们要做的是主动联络招生办，询问春季申请的有关事宜，学校会根据具体情况给出答复，包括截止日期和所需的材料。这是在开始任何其他申请工作前，首先要做的事！

3. 毕业后申请春季入学，你会节省8个月的时间

通常情况下，我们会在高二或者大三的暑假就开始申请第二年秋季入学，为的就是明年毕业后可以直接奔赴美国，没有空白期。但是如果你错过了这个时间，毕业后才决定出国留学，真的要再等一年才可以赴美吗？事实上，我们还有另一条路可以选择，就是毕业后立刻申请第二年春季入学，来年1月就可以开始上课，比申请秋季可以节省足足8个月的时间。

4. 如果你时间充足，甚至可以提前修满秋季的课程

为了最大化的节省时间，一个学期都不浪费，我们甚至可以在秋季的时候就可以在其他大学把秋季的课程先修掉。注意，前提是我们可以确定这些课程会被我们所申请的学校认可并可用于满足毕业要求。比如，USC就非常鼓励他们春季入学者充分利用家附近的社区大学，在秋季时同步修满课程，这样做的春季入学者可以更好的跟上进度。通常大学里秋季开设过的课程春季不会再有，如果想要再上这些课最少需要等大半年的时间。如果我们提前把这些课程休掉了，就不会对之后学业进度有影响（尤其是对于First-Year春季入学者来说）。

5. 春季申请的竞争压力可能比申请秋季入学要小

尽管秋季的录取名额要比春季多的多，但同时学校也会收到比春季多十几倍甚至几十倍的申请。虽然，因为每个学校的情况都不同，具体的数据很难的统计。但是，根据求真留学老师的多年申请经验来看，学校的硬性门槛通常是水涨船高，所以春季申请的竞争压力确实比秋季相对小一些，。如果你申请Dream School的秋季入学未果，不妨多给自己一个机会，尝试下申请春季入学。要知道，时间不一样，情况很有可能截然不同。
